Raymond J. Pikna Jr.

Ray Pikna practices in the firm’s Litigation and Bankruptcy, Business, and Creditors' Rights practice groups. Ray has over 30 years of experience representing clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts in commercial litigation and in all aspects of bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings, with an emphasis in the representation of parties in Chapter 11 reorganization cases and workouts. His clients in Chapter 11 cases have included debtors in possession in a wide variety of industries, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors' committees, and bankruptcy trustees. In addition, Ray has served as Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General in bankruptcy cases since 2005. After graduating from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Ray began his career as a law clerk for the Honorable D.J. Kelleher, Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Ohio, when the U.S. Bankruptcy Code first became effective. Ray is a frequent speaker on bankruptcy topics at CLE programs throughout Ohio. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Seminar, Inc. He formerly served on the Advisory Committee for the Local Bankruptcy Rules for the Southern District of Ohio, chair of the bankruptcy committees of the Dayton and Cincinnati Bar Associations, and as Trustee of the Thomas F. Waldron American Bankruptcy Law Forum. Ray was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2014 in the field of Bankruptcy and Creditor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law.
