Michelle’s practice focuses on drafting wills, powers of attorney, living wills, trusts/special needs trusts, administration and litigation of successions. She works with clients in the qualification of Medicaid, social security and other governmental benefits, and assists in planning for nursing home or elder care. Before joining the Koch Law Firm, Michelle practiced in civil litigation for over 20 years, concentrating on mass torts, toxic torts, class action defense, and insurance defense representing private entities such as Dow Chemical Co. and Shintech in Plaquemine, Louisiana. She has represented public entities, including Iberville and Lafourche Parishes. She has litigated a variety of cases, handling all areas of the legal process, conducting and attending all pre-trial (depositions, court hearings, and conferences) and trial matters. She has participated in mediation and dispute resolution matters, and brings a unique perspective to the firm in resolving disputes and working towards an equitable resolution for the firm’s clients. Michelle was born in New Orleans, Louisiana but grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy. She attended Louisiana State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree and juris doctorate in 1991. She served as a volunteer in the Baton Rouge community, and has served on the Board and President for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). An avid tennis player, Michelle served on the Board and President of Bocage Racquet Club. She is a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar.
